Image of the Child: The Child as a Learner

The artwork depicts a child's development as well as the complexity and continuous growth of the development. Each child develops at a different rate therefore, it is important for the teacher to recognize how to incorporate each domain in various lessons and activities. Additionally, it is essential to recognize that the child is actively involved in their learning. Through play and communication with peers and teachers, the child will learn how to use their gross and fine motor skills, regulate their emotions, use reasoning and imagination skills, expand their vocabulary, collaborate and show openness to others (Government of Quebec, 2021, pp. 15-16; Kostelnik et al., 2019, p. 455).
